Nathanael Adams

Using chisels and rasps, this hard carved piece is the product of the natural drying process aspens can go through. Normally aspen dries white, but I have been able to find pieces with distinct colors from the local mountains. The wood has to dry naturally, which means there are many flaws, but this creates the warmth and character unique to each piece. The piece is finished with tung oil which stabilizes the wood and gives it a gloss finish.
